Presence.
So you’re sitting in adoration, fully aware of Jesus before you in the monstrance.
You know that He loves you and has a plan for you.
But you’re just not sure what that plan is.
Let us help.
First things first.
Discerning God’s plan has to be about God’s plan.
What is it that You want, Lord? Where are You leading me? How are you trying to love me?
This begins with a relationship. Don’t come to prayer seeking answers only. Come before your Savior and receive the specific, generous love He has for you. Share gratitude and praise for the ways He is at work in your day-to-day. Rest with Him.
Relationship with God Brings Clarity.
As you fall in love with the Lord, you’ll notice things preventing you from growing in this love. Sin has to go, attachments to earthly things.
Creating space for God will bring greater love. Then comes the clarity, His will.
Name what’s on your heart. What do you really want?
Share that with the Lord, then lay it at His feet.
Say, “Lord, I want what You want” and try to mean it.
Ask Him what He wants for you.
Sometimes when we’re discerning difficult things, we need to invite other faith-filled people to assist us on our journey.
Talk to your priest or religious or lay staff and ask for a spiritual conversation.
If you’re discerning priesthood or religious life or the diaconate, take the next step and reach out.
For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.
-Jeremiah 29:11
